Damage to HDPE Geomembrane from Interface Shear with Gravel Drainage Layer and Protection Layer (New Publication)
Multi-interface direct shear tests have indicated that, under high normal stress conditions, a HDPE geomembrane can be damaged from interface shear against an overlying gravel drainage layer, with or without a protection nonwoven geotextile in between. A brief overview of the experimental results is presented and recommendations are provided for mitigation of such damage in field applications.
