Vale Launches Pilot Project for Environmental Recovery of Tailings in Large Geotextile Bags

INSTALLERS SOUGHT FOR CLOSURE TURF INSTALLATION

U.S. EPA is issuing this notice to industry for the purpose of providing advance notice to potential installers of ClosureTurf, a tufted geosynthetic-protected geomembrane cover system, for closure of the former Mississippi Phosphate site in Pascagoula, MS. Only installation of ClosureTurf is required at this time. The dollar magnitude for this contract will be between $1M and $5M; bid and payment/performance bonds will be required. The Phase 1B area of the Mississippi Phosphate East Gypsum Stack consists of approximately 50 acres of contaminated material in need of a permanent and impermeable covering to prevent runoff to nearby environmentally sensitive sites. The Government will purchase and provide to the selected contractor sufficient quantities to cover the estimated 50-acre project area. Additional sand/concrete infill will be required to be purchased and provided under the contract resulting from the upcoming solicitation. The contractor ultimately selected for the installation work must be trained and certified by Watershed Geo in the installation of ClosureTurf. The selected contractor must also demonstrate a history of successful performance in previous ClosureTurf installations. Interested parties who consider themselves qualified to perform the above-listed services are invited to submit a brief (10 pages max) capabilies statement via FedConnect. RESPONSES MUST BE RECEIVED BY OR BEFORE 5:00 PM ET ON JANUARY 31, 2020. Based on the responses to this notice, this requirement may be set aside for small business or procured through full and open competition.
