Workshop A – Advances in Landfill Design and Construction with Geosynthetics
Tuesday 26th March 2019

Workshop A will present an overview of key landfill design objectives and the challenges faced during the construction of landfill cells, with a focus on the construction quality assurance issues. The objectives of this workshop are to:
• Provide an overview of landfill design objectives from local and international experts.
• Consider key challenges in the construction quality assurance process that affect construction schedule and project cost.
• Review geosynthetic testing methods and suggest approaches to address or combat failures.
• Hear from local and international experts about developments in geosynthetics.
• Share recent experiences from practitioners (suppliers, contractors, designers and landfill owners)

Workshop B – Managing Leachate and the Impact of Emerging Contaminants
Tuesday 26th March 2019
09:00am – 4:30pm

Workshop B will address current and emerging issues facing landfill operators in managing leachate generation, treatment and disposal. The objectives of this workshop are to:
• Provide an overview of current practice, needs and recent development across Australia
• Hear from local and international experts about developments in leachate treatment & disposal and the implications of emerging contaminants
• Obtain a regulatory update
• Share recent experiences from practitioners (suppliers, contractors, designers and landfill owners)
• Facilitate dialogue between delegates on current and emerging issues
