BREAKING BUSINESS NEWS

Significant Strategic Move as Strata Geosystems Completes a Majority Stake Acquisition by Global Private Equity Giant Carlyle
The Carlyle Group’s acquisition of a majority stake in Strata Geosystems was valued between $110 million and $120 million USD. This estimate is based on reports indicating that Carlyle acquired a controlling stake of approximately 60% to 70% from existing shareholders, including US-based Glen Raven Technical Fabrics LLC and a group of Indian investors . As part of the Carlyle transaction, Strata Geosystems is consolidating its operations across India, Europe, and the US into a single global entity headquartered in India .
The last financial year marked a major turning point in Strata’s journey.

NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENTS

AGRU Patent Knurled Calender Roll for Production of Structured Geomembrane
The knurling wheel is rotatable about an axis that is aligned an acute angle to a plane that contains the rotational axis of the calender roll so that the knurling spikes produce a helical array of recesses in the outer surface of the calender roll. The calender roll then can be used to form a landfill liner with projections that are offset from one another to avoid having the projections form grooves and thereby preventing slippage of the landfill liner.

TenCate China Develop Wicking Drainage Enhanced Geotextile Dewatering Container
A geotextile dewatering container that includes panels of geosynthetic fabric, panels of wicking mesh, and fill ports. The components are assembled by seaming or other means into a flexible and permeable geotextile shell containment vessel. The panels of geosynthetic fabric may either be made with or without the use of wicking yarns. The wicking yarns may be introduced in the machine direction or the cross machine direction of the geosynthetic fabric or in both. The wicking yarns may be introduced within the geosynthetic fabric as wicking loops appearing on one or both surfaces of the geosynthetic fabric. The panels of wicking mesh have ends attached to the flexible and permeable geotextile shell and are suitable to wick out the water from the sludge located in zones that are remote of the geotextile shell to drain and discharge through the geotextile shell to thereby enhance the dewatering performance.

NEW EVENT – Geosynthetic and Wire Mesh Solutions for Erosion Control in Hydraulic and Marine Works (2nd July 2025)
This online learned event, organised by Maccaferri will explore the application of double twisted wire mesh and geosynthetic solutions for erosion control in hydraulic and marine works. Erosion in rivers, wadis, and coastal environments presents complex engineering challenges, requiring both historical understanding and modern innovation.  The session will highlight the evolution of erosion protection systems, including gabions, reno mattresses, and more recent geosynthetic-based solutions such as tubes and bags.
