‘Advancing Degradation Resistance in Next-Generation Polyethylene Geomembranes’
Thursday Morning 10.30-11.30 am on 17th September : Room 520 bcef
This presentation outlines a comprehensive framework for improving the durability and degradation resistance of polyethylene geomembranes used in high-risk containment environments. The authors (all leading Geomembrane experts) argue that standard compliance checks are insufficient, advocating instead for site-specific testing that accounts for concurrent stressors like heat, chemical exposure, and mechanical strain. By utilizing bimodal polymer architectures and a portfolio of advanced stress-cracking tests, engineers can better predict how liners will perform over decades of service.
