Compliance/Conformance/Condition Testing of Geomembranes
WHEN TO SUBMIT LINERS FOR TESTING (buyers, installers and end-users)
One must always ensure that the geomembrane is of optimal quality, as just a minor defect or non-conformance can result in huge financial losses and infrastructure damage. To minimize this risk, the liner should always be sent for independent testing when:

  • Liner quality is in question;
  • Non-certified geomembrane;
  • Not all raw material and resin properties are listed/provided in certificates;
  • Certificates and documentation have been lost;
  • For any large projects, a representative amount of the geomembrane should be sent for independent testing;
  • For any government or critical containment projects, geomembrane should be sent for third party testing as required;
  • When on deployment gels, fisheyes, inclusions, blemishes are observed;
  • After first fabricator/installer site welds has been performed;
  • Geomembrane failures or weld failures have occurred;
  • When tender documents call for equal/approved products;
  • High risk applications such as environmentally sensitive projects;
  • When you want to determine the remaining life expectancy of an existing liner/cover installation;
  • For product and/or design validations;
  • To validate statements made by manufacturers and/or distributors of goods;
  • To have peace of mind.
